The main goal of this thesis is to explore the steps a company must take to successfully perform and operate in an international environment. The thesis explores the preparatory activities a company must conduct before entering a foreign market and the criteria a company is guided by when choosing a market. Furthermore, it investigates the methods of entering a foreign market, national regulations regarding the entry of foreign companies into markets, and what barriers exist when entering a foreign market. From the perspectives of research methodology, this thesis combines findings from several different sources. In addition to the analysis of relevant literature and other secondary sources on the application of various internationalization strategies among business entities, primary research was carried out using the in-depth interview technique, and it was conducted on a convenient sample comprising leading managers and board members of three companies from three different sectors: the confectionery industry, the construction industry, and a distributor of consumer goods. The findings obtained through a combination of secondary and primary research indicate no significant discrepancies between the theoretical concepts stated in the literature and the experiences and practices of the industry professionals participating in this research study.
